As a business owner, you need to ensure that you are operating legally above board with things like ID check and tax, you need to keep on top of sales and make sure you continue to grow. Well, it is the last of these that we are going to take a look at in a hope to help you compartmentalize at least one of your many roles, with a look at digital marketing.
There are many ways that you can promote yourself online and they all come with a range of different costs. Here we are going to take a look at SEO and social media, both of which can cost you very little depending on the strategy you employ.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization refers to the practice of making your website more visible online, specifically to rank high in the organic search results. Organic, in this case, means unpaid because you can opt to use sponsored results instead.
SEO is a deep marketing strategy that requires a certain level of website building knowledge, but rather than delving into the intricacies we are going to look at the basic SEO practice on the surface. There are some ideas that you should be confident that your website features in order to meet basic SEO requirements. One of these is keywords; the words and phrases that should be on your website based on what terms search engine users are using when they look for your product, services or topics. You can use free keyword planners to help you find the words and phrases that your website requires.
In addition to keywords, you should be making sure the loading times of your website are not too long, that your content encourages users to stay on your site longer and you backlink to your own archives. These are all considered good practices to improve your SEO and encourage the likes of Google and Bing to feature you higher in results.

In addition to SEO, there is social media. The importance of a good social media campaign in the modern day cannot be underestimated. One of the main reasons for this is that there are over a billion people worldwide on social media channels, and you should be looking to get at least a fraction of their attention.
Any social media strategy you build should be centered around the demographics that are using individual sites like Facebook and Twitter. Your social media should be targeted to the market you are trying to encourage to visit your website. In the same way, you must consider the product you are selling. If you are a financial based institution, you might prefer to engage with potential clients on Twitter rather than posting pictures of the office on Instagram.
These are two ways of improving your digital marketing and hopefully that will give you some peace of mind for at least one of the hats you are wearing.
